Development of
molecular markers for both traits: Fusion- and Crossing Combining Ability.For
this purpose two populations were produced by plant breeders and by protoplast
fusion as shown in the schedule below. The traits are mapped with RFLP
and Rapd markers.

The other approach
for the identification of cytoplasmic effects:
Combination of different
cytoplasms with nearly identical nuclear genomes. This is carried out for
reciprocal crosses and fusion populations.
